WASHINGTON, DC., March 4th, 2025 – SIECUS: Sex Ed for Social Change was featured in an article in States Newsroom titled Anti-abortion ‘Baby Olivia’ video could become required viewing for some schoolkids. Elisha Brown, the author of State Newsroom’s Reproductive Rights Today newsletter, quoted president and CEO of SIECUS, Christine Soyong Harley (She/Her).
Several states have introduced “Baby Olivia” bills, which mandate students from first grade to 12th grade depending on the text, to watch a medically inaccurate fetal development video produced by Live Action, an anti-abortion group.
Responding to Tennessee’s “Baby Olivia Act” passed last year, president and CEO Christine Soyong Harley said, “This isn’t sex education. This is a disinformation campaign designed to brainwash young children and force an out-of-touch and wildly unpopular regressive and false reproductive agenda in the public education system, using anti-abortion, anti-science propaganda about fetal development.”
