Texas Republicans in both chambers introduced a slew of “nearly identical bills” House Bill 267HB 947HB 995HB 1434HB 2030Senate Bill 89SB 242, and SB 412 removing the affirmative defense exception separating sex education materials from “harmful material to minors”.

In response, Miranda stated, “If a teacher isn’t sure if the materials they want to show would run afoul of the law, they may just outright avoid the material,” Estes said. “Whether or not the bill becomes law, it is still deeply concerning.”
